Growing up in Germany I remember we had family friends from Italy, one weekend we were invited to their house for dinner. Amongst other food served that evening I clearly remember the pasta bowl with marinara and parmesan cheese.
Talking about taste memories. I hated the dinner, it was the first time ever I tasted marinara and real parmesan, in other words it did not go very well.
For years I literally hated tomatoes growing up, however on the bright side, today I can’t wait for the tomato season and get enough of fresh tomatoes.
There is a reason Tomatoes are considered super food, the anti-cancer antioxidant Lycopene is activated more when tomatoes are cooked as opposed to raw, so while eating slow roasted tomatoes you are getting awesome health benefits and flavor at the same time.
Adding the wildflower honey, I used a Mountain Gold Honey from Dahlonega GA.
and chili pepper flakes, it created an awesome flavor profile of tomato, honey, sweetness and spicy with a hint of fresh basil.
