Crispy Seasoned Sea Salt or How to Spice Up Your Life

Blend herbs, spices, extra virgin olive oil and a good quality sea salt with whole grain or whole wheat bread and you have crispy seasoned sea salt.

  • 6 slices whole grain bread crust removed
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp parsley dried
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt flaky
  • 1/2 tbsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Mexican oregano
  • 1/4 tsp thyme leaves
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper ground


Preheat oven to 300 F

  • Remove crust from whole grain bread. Place whole-grain bread in robot coupe and pulse until you have large, coarse flakes. Add the bread crumbs to a bowl and season with spices, sea salt, and toss with extra virgin olive oil.
    6 slices whole grain bread, 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, 1 tsp parsley, 1/2 tsp sea salt, 1/2 tbsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp sweet paprika, 1/4 tsp smoked paprika, 1/4 tsp Mexican oregano, 1/4 tsp thyme leaves, 1/4 tsp black pepper

Bake bread crumb seasoning

  • Spread the bread crumbs onto a baking sheet creating a thin layer evenly spread so crumbs won't burn. Bake for 5 minutes, gently stir bread crumbs with a spatula to move them around, and heat them as evenly as possible. Bake additional 3 minutes and remove from oven. Cool on the baking sheet as they will continue to dry out

Store in an airtight container.

  • They should last at least a week in a dry airtight container, or 6 months in a freezer
